Description

SAIC is seeking a Lead Orbital Range Systems Engineer to pioneer orbital range solutions in support of Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) and the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) in Colorado Springs, CO. The Lead Orbital Range Systems Engineer will help lead a team of multi-disciplined engineers and program managers to coordinate with government and partner orbital warfare and space operations experts across the US Space Force to develop orbital range solutions focused on capabilities-based requirements and architectures, manage technical baseline processes and documentation, and respond to mission requirements for test and training purposes. We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic people who are excited about taking on a variety of challenges as we continue to develop a test and training enterprise solution and support the USSF and Joint warfighting community. Successful candidates will be able to work under only very general supervision. Occasional travel may be required to engage with key stakeholders.



Fun stuff on the job you will do:
  • Provide innovative internal and external technical leadership, collaboration across all stakeholders, and effective communications to meet customer and program requirements
  • Manage the NSTTC Orbital Range technical baseline in accordance with process plans, including developing operational and capabilities-based requirements, integration specifications across multiple domains, and architecture diagrams
  • Develop cross-segment roadmaps and schedule views for system and capability deliveries in accordance with policies and government formats
  • Plan, execute, and maintain tracking of enterprise, integrated, system, and cybersecurity test and evaluation requirements, including technical assessments, validation, verification, and test accreditation of systems and capabilities
  • Maintain cognizance of relevant and provide resolutions recommendations for technical issues and concerns to manage risks and opportunities related to capabilities and system delivery for the NSTTC Orbital Range
  • Support transition to range operations and sustainment of current and future NSTTC Orbital Range capabilities and systems

Qualifications

This is you:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 14 years of engineering experience (appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement)
  • Experience should include familiarity with:
    • Broad range of defense space orbital and ground system types, including development, execution, and sustainment
    • All segments of space systems including ground, space, link, and user segments, as well as applying this to distributed test and training capabilities
    • The aerospace or DoD organizations - having worked across organizations to coordinate and identify integration requirements, as well as managing large-scale Agile or DevSecOps teams/projects
    • Technical and acquisition documentation; ability to document and describe requirements, architectures, and infrastructure across each segment of a space system
  • Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable)
  • Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartment Information and Special Access Programs and willing to consent to a Polygraph examination

You will wow us even more if you have these skills:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Understanding of model-based and/or software engineering tools and practices
  • Demonstrable experience with DoD or NRO space and ground systems engineering
  • Understanding of DoD and USSF range operations, standards, and policies
  • Experience with configuration and data management, hardware and software testing, and the evaluation of classified systems

Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
