Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Orion Mechanical Systems Integration and Test Engineer - Early Career. In this role, you will:

Develop test plans, test procedures, and schematics for system and subsystem-level mechanical tests on the Orion spacecraft and test articles.
Learn and understanding the Orion spacecraft assembly, integration and test flow and the associated processes including test execution, anomaly resolution, and paper closure.
Execute test procedures on current flight articles (Artemis III and Artemis IV) and future vehicles under Orion production
Collaborate with team members across the program including systems engineering, CPEs/RSEs, software, test labs, manufacturing, quality, and NASA
The work will involve acceptance testing, environmental testing and ground servicing of flight hardware (including fluids & pneumatic systems, mechanical structures and mechanisms) at the assembly, subsystem and spacecraft level of assembly.
Test activities will primarily take place at Kennedy Space Center, but the position will be required to support test efforts at other locations for periods of time.

The successful candidate will experience working with structural, environmental or pneumatic testing, familiarity using Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (pneumatic or fluids loading panels), fluid systems, such as Propulsion or Environmental Control and Life Support. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Be a part of the Artemis and Orion teams taking astronauts to the Moon and beyond. As an ATLO (Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations) Mechanical Test Engineer on the Orion program, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of mechanical integration activities for the Orion spacecraft for Artemis II (first crewed flight), Artemis III (lunar landing), and future missions.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field preferred)
Willing to work extended hours, including second/third shifts and weekends, in support of test activities
This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a .

Desired skills

Experience or exposure to mechanical testing or fabrication
Experience with structural, environmental or pneumatic testing
Familiarity using Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (pneumatic or fluids loading panels)
Willingness to travel to other LM Space campuses to perform Test Engineering activities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective cross-functional relationships and an ability to work and lead in a team environment
Familiarity with fluid systems, such as Propulsion or Environmental Control and Life Support
Experience writing test plans, test procedures, or technical documents
Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and test specifications for testing of aerospace hardware
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
Knowledge of the Orion spacecraft or experience on a production spacecraft program
Experience using Automation Framework tools

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $57,500 - $101,430. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
