Micron is in search of an experienced Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to lead all aspects of the third-party design of instrumentation and control systems for advanced construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and validate third-party designs of PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and field instrumentation to ensure alignment with project specifications and industry standards (ISA, IEC, NFPA 70).
- Conduct in-depth technical evaluations of control system performance, including reliability, response time, accuracy, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on I&C designs, resolving issues related to constructability, integration, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure seamless integration of I&C systems with facility infrastructure (e.g., mechanical, electrical, chemical systems) using BIM tools like Revit and Navisworks.
- Apply advanced control system platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV) to verify design interoperability and support commissioning and system startup.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in I&C engineering, with at least 2 years coordinating third-party design or managing design processes for instrumentation and control systems.
- Solid understanding of I&C system design, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and field instrumentation for industrial or high-tech facilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ISA 5.1, ISA 88, IEC 61131, NFPA 70 (NEC), and ISA 84 for functional safety.
- Proficiency in reviewing engineering work, including control system architectures, loop diagrams, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or control system design software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, ISA CCST, CFSE) are a plus.
- Experience coordinating third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with critical I&C system requirements.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for control systems (e.g., IEC 62443) and integration of IoT or Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Familiarity with clash detection and design integration processes using BIM tools.
- Ability to mentor internal teams or liaise effectively with external collaborators to ensure design alignment.
