Lead Power BI Consultant (Contract)
Start Date: Q1 2026
Duration: 6 12 Month Contract
Location: Remote with occasional onsite collaboration (as needed)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs/week

Overview

Our client, one of the largest and most recognized boat and yacht dealers in the industry, is enhancing their enterprise reporting and operational analytics capabilities. They are seeking a Lead Power BI Consultant to take ownership of their Power BI environment and deliver high-impact dashboards for leadership across sales, inventory, service, and financial operations.

This role requires someone who can operate at an enterprise level, partner with multiple departments, and translate complex data into intuitive, executive-ready insights.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Leadership & Development

  • Lead the end-to-end development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets
  • Build visually intuitive dashboards supporting enterprise sales, inventory, service operations, and financial metrics
  • Standardize KPIs and develop enterprise reporting frameworks
  • Manage automated refresh schedules, semantic models, and data architecture improvements

Data Modeling & Integration

  • Consolidate data from CRM, ERP, DMS, service platforms, and other enterprise systems
  • Clean, transform, and model data using DAX, Power Query, and dimensional modeling best practices
  • Improve data reliability and streamline reporting processes

Cross-Functional Partnering

  • Work closely with departmental leaders to understand reporting needs and operational metrics
  • Translate high-level business questions into measurable KPIs and dashboards
  • Provide training, documentation, and enablement for business users

Process Optimization & Governance

  • Establish BI governance standards, naming conventions, and documentation
  • Collaborate with IT on data source improvements and access management
  • Ensure dashboards meet security and role-based access requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years BI development experience with expert-level Power BI
  • Strong DAX, Power Query/M, and data modeling skills
  • Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems
  • Ability to lead requirement sessions with senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of KPI design, storytelling, and visualization best practices
  • Excellent communication and ability to present to executives

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience working with large dealership environments (marine, auto, RV, heavy equipment, or similar)
  • Knowledge of dealership management systems (DMS)
  • SQL, Azure, or cloud data stack familiarity
  • Experience with forecasting models or operational analytics
