Job Responsibilities
Summary
Convert approved Figma designs into production-ready, accessible HTML/CSS/JS components for Drupal (Acquia) presentation layer. Ensure compliance with CalPERS brand, WCAG 2.2 AA standards, and performance goals (< 2s page load), supporting non-technical content authors and modern front-end frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Translate Figma designs into semantic HTML, modular CSS/SCSS, and lightweight JS for Drupal theming.
  • Implement WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility best practices (ARIA, keyboard navigation, color contrast).
  • Build and maintain reusable UI component library aligned with design system; document usage.
  • Optimize Core Web Vitals (LCP/CLS/INP) and page speed through efficient assets and responsive design.
  • Ensure cross-browser/device compatibility; perform visual regression checks.
  • Collaborate with UX, Drupal developers, and QA for seamless integration and maintainability.
  • Deliver templates that simplify content authoring for non-technical staff; provide documentation and KT artifacts.
  • Present UI solutions to stakeholders and iterate based on feedback.
Qualifications
  • 5 8+ years in UI development for large public-facing sites; proven Figma HTML/CSS/JS conversion experience.
  • Expertise in semantic HTML, modern CSS/SCSS, responsive layouts, and WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.
  • Experience with Drupal/Acquia theming and component-based markup.
  • Familiarity with cross-browser QA and visual regression tools.
  • Experience contributing to design systems and reusable component libraries.
  • Experience supporting accessibility, security, and compliance requirements.
