Job Title: Senior Workload Automation Engineer (Tivoli/Control-M)
Location: Hybrid Richmond, VA (3 days onsite)
Duration: 6 Months (Contract-to-Hire)
Type: W2 Only (No subcontracting or layers)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Workload Automation Engineer with deep expertise in Tivoli/Control-M to support and optimize enterprise batch job operations. The ideal candidate will analyze, implement, and enhance workload automation schedules, provide operational support, and ensure compliance with best practices. This role requires strong technical proficiency across scripting, databases, DevOps practices, and tax technology environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and document existing Tivoli/Control-M job schedules, dependencies, and configurations.
  • Implement and test new job schedules with proper documentation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve job failures and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to optimize scheduling processes and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for workload automation.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and support audits to ensure compliance.
  • Provide training to IT staff on workload automation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Establish proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities for platform components.
  • Support DevOps initiatives including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring.
  • Provide on-call support for critical job-related incidents as required.
Required Skills & Experience (Must-Have)
  • 7+ years of recent experience with Tivoli/Control-M (or similar workload automation tools).
  • 7+ years in implementing, testing, and documenting job schedules.
  • 7+ years working with Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • 7+ years conducting IT staff training sessions.
  • 7+ years hands-on scripting experience: PowerShell, C, and UNIX.
  • 7+ years with version control tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • 7+ years' experience in Tax Technology environments.
  • 7+ years applying Object-Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) techniques.
  • 7+ years' experience working in both Windows and Linux server environments.
  • 7+ years engineering and consulting on DevOps (CI/CD) and infrastructure automation.
  • 7+ years establishing proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities for enterprise platforms.
Deliverables
  • Documentation of job schedules, dependencies, and configurations.
  • Recommendations for optimizing job schedules and improving efficiency.
  • Standard operating procedures for workload automation.
  • Incident reports with resolution details.
  • Training materials for IT staff.
