Job Details

AWS Architect/Project Manager

Hybrid 3-4 days each week onsite (may have some more remote days as this rolls out, depends on the consultant)

Location is Downtown Chicago, IL

Target rate: $85-$100/hr. DOE, all-inclusive

Start is mid-November, but can be as soon as two-weeks from offer

Duration is six months, to start

Industry: Retail, so AWS PM with retail migration hands-on experience will take top choice.

Communication and personality and strongPresence is a must.

This is a high-visibility role, lots of meetings with: Business suite, shareholders, IT management, and managing an IT team.

Will need to PM/Architect the roadmap, liaison, etc.

They want to migrate to AWS cloud

This is for a single PM AWS advisor, who will have access to our customers bench of AWS folks.

Initially for 30-35-40 hours a week.

Interviews are all via MS Teams

My notes: client is a retail company, with 8K plus employees.

25 TB of data

15 Sharepoint portals

Customer wants to go from legacy (Delphi), along with newer integrations to AWS cloud.

So, its: on-prem plus Azure to AWS

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience with analytics and reporting system in Azure / AWS
  • Can manage project in Agile methodology
  • The usual Sr PM skills (excellent soft skills, strong team leadership, comfortable and effective reporting upwards, drives for solutions and delivery).

Responsibilities:

  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) of multiple agile software development lines and the associated platform.
  • Help application product teams bring their latest ideas to the field faster and provide the fault tolerant and highly scalable core of our customers platform as a service for internal users
  • Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
  • Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
  • 10+ year of experience in software management, engineering, or design
  • Well versed in building product-quality software on AWS including experience in designing for high availability, building multi-region and multi-set architectures using virtual networks, availability sets and affinity groups.
  • Familiar with various application stacks such as .NET, C#, Powershell etc in a Visual Studio TFS/VSO environment.

  • Configuration and deployment experience in two or more of the following:
  • AWS PaaS technologies (Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, and API Gateway)
  • AWS apps technologies
  • Azure IaaS Technologies
  • Deployed applications with Web UI frontends
  • Deployed application with RESTful/SOAP services interfaces
  • Expert level knowledge regarding AWS IaaS services (i.e., Compute, networking, databases, storage, backup and archive, DR, security, monitoring, etc.)
  • Strong expertise in AWS Security & Identity services (i.e. Active Directory, Domain Services, Security Center, Governance,)
  • Firm grasp on cloud security, leveraging Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Federated AD, AD integration
  • Powershell deployments, experience with Powershell, DevOps CI/CD Pipelines
  • Familiarity with Office 365 and Sharepoint service offerings.
  • Experience as a hands-on technical practitioner/specialist in client facing roles in large enterprises and demonstrated client facing consulting skills, including building strong client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communications skills.
  • Strong team building and management skills including: the ability to lead distributed teams and play the liaison.

  • AWS certification in any of the following:
  • Solutions Architect
  • Infrastructure Architect
  • Systems Ops.
