Job Details
Job Title: Managed File Transfer (MFT) Engineer
Location: Remote (Must be willing to work Central Time Zone Hours)
Contract Length: 3 Months (no extension expected)
Role Overview:
This role supports a small, high-performing data ops team focused on secure, reliable, and automated movement of data within and outside the organization. You’ll be the go-to expert for Managed File Transfer (MFT) operations, supporting ongoing platform modernization and helping reduce the operational burden on developers by clearing backlog assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer daily file transfer operations using Cleo Harmony (or similar) MFT tools
- Configure, troubleshoot, and support new file movements, including setups and integration points
- Modify shell and Perl scripts to streamline automated processes (Unix/Linux environment)
- Regularly work with file formats (CSV, fixed-width, XML, etc.) to ensure correct transfer and transformation
- Improve manual processes through automation and standardization
- Rapidly learn team processes by pairing with senior engineers for onboarding
- Support backlog reduction, enabling developers to prioritize modernization projects
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years hands-on experience with MFT administration (5+ years preferred)
- Direct experience with Cleo Harmony or similar platforms for data movement and scheduling
- Strong command of Unix/Linux shell scripting and directory management
- Familiarity with Perl scripting (nice to have)
- Solid understanding of file formats and validation procedures
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve integration/file movement issues
- Proactive collaborator and rapid learner with a “get things done” attitude
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Oracle databases
- Quick adaptability to new processes and a focus on process improvement
