About The Role And Team

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Paid Marketing Data Science and Analytics to lead our efforts in optimizing Performance Marketing through advanced analytics and data science techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, analytics, and has exposure to Paid Marketing, and will be responsible for driving innovations to enhance customer experience through relevant Ad targeting, drive Paid Marketing $$ efficiency, and optimize budget allocations

What You Will Accomplish
  • This individual will serve as domain lead and partner with eBay's Performance Marketing team along with other cross functional teams to meet their analytic needs and conduct extensive analyses of eBay's rich data, generating and communicating those insights to guide the project roadmap, with a strong customer-focus.
  • In the process, this person will develop a deep understanding of eBay Marketplaces and site functionality, further strengthen their analytical, leadership, and presentation skills, and gain exposure to a wide variety of functional teams within eBay.
  • Builds scalable AI based Products solving for end-to-end robust use cases. Defines standards for model development and deployment. Identifies and champions the adoption of new AI and analytical tools, by staying abreast of industry trends and innovations.
  • Drives eBay's AI/ML strategy, ownership of Analytics Product roadmap for Performance Marketing. Creates a vision for how AI will transform their domain. Takes ownership of end-to-end development of high-impact, AI-powered Products. Evangelizes a culture of AI adoption across the organization including partner teams.
  • Analytics at eBay is a multidisciplinary craft and it is foundational; it is a strategic arm that heavily influences critical decisions made by eBay leaders. Qualified candidates will also assume leadership responsibilities for departmental activities/responsibilities, including:
    • Managing, guiding, and counseling junior staff members as and when needed to ensure full team alignment and compliance with eBay Marketplaces policies and procedures.
    • Identifying, recruiting, hiring, developing, and mentoring top talent across a broader team.
    • Act as "go-to Analytics leader" for assigned Business areas/domains including defining Analytics roadmap, guiding Business strategy and influencing decision making

Day-to-day duties include

  • Build close partnership with the business and product teams to Innovate, identify and explore new analytics and operational opportunities to help the Business Units to track and drive initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor team members by polishing their Communication. Can inspire the team to set a higher standard for outputs by reviewing and editing readouts, dashboards, and decks. Can codify templates and storytelling standards so insights land consistently with Senior partners in the Organization
  • Drives cross-org alignment by anchoring debates in shared metrics and experimental evidence; sets the narrative that shapes priorities and funding. This leader's strong Analytical judgment & expertise instills confidence and garners partner trust and unlocks decisions.
  • Identify, quantify, prioritize, test, launch and monitor improvements in business initiatives, marketing programs, website experience or policy changes. Evaluate performance of tested features and programs and deliver final test results in a clear, concise and actionable manner.
  • Function as a liaison across multiple product or business domain teams and take ownership of driving analytics impact into cross-department initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation across their domain. They drive major new data initiatives and encourage experimentation at all levels in their org, allocate resources (time, budget) for exploratory projects that could yield high reward.
  • Proactively identify new critical questions to answer - essentially, they ensure the team is always asking "what else can data tell us that we haven't considered?"
  • Promote a self-serve analytics culture for the organization by educating partners on key reports, data, and interpretation of standard methodologies

Take charge of motivating their team and assign appropriately challenging tasks.
  • Is able to seamlessly step into shoes of a people leader by leading through others as also step in to drive critical projects end to end as required.
  • A proven track record of analytics - problem definition, collating the required information, analyzing the results, synthesizing and presenting a compelling argument and influencing partners to act. Demonstrate outstanding business judgment and quantitative analytic ability and demonstrate assertive decision making.
  • Experience with key analytical tools including R and Python. Knowledge of statistics (e.g., multivariate statistics, predictive modeling, controlled test design). Advanced Excel, PowerPoint skills and database query skills (e.g., Teradata SQL, SparkSQL); and an understanding of data warehouse architecture, impacting large domain/business unit results and partner relationships.
  • Ability to identify and take on critical projects, as well as lead multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, changing environment. Excellent time management, willingness to take calculated risks and make decisions with imperfect information
  • Prior experience or deep knowledge of Performance Marketing including Paid Search, Affiliate Marketing, Programmatic Display & Social or related fields will be highly preferred

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such in Engineering, Statistics, Applied Econometrics, Math, Physics, Computer Science, other related Core Sciences or equivalent)/MBA and 10+ in analytics and exposure to varied functions within analytics/finance. The candidate should possess at least 3+ years of People management experience
  • At least 5 years as Analytics partner to senior executives in a business or product team within an organization, with proven results and exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytic impact
  • Knowledge of AI tools and techniques, such as Gemini, GPT, LLMs etc.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$183,200 - $244,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
