Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Marketing Science and Operations Tech team and help build the applications, services, and features that power our products. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who is eager to learn, grow, and make a real impact on production systems.
As an SWE I, you'll contribute to designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software under the guidance of experienced engineers and managers. You'll collaborate with teammates across product, machine learning, and platform engineering to deliver high-quality features that delight users and support our business goals.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

What You'll Do:
- You will be responsible for design, development, delivery and support of high impact, distributed software and tools.
- Design and implement data integration services.
- Adhere to enterprise architecture and coding standards.
- Actively participate in architecture and code reviews to deliver high quality code.
- Actively participate in scrum ceremonies such as grooming, planning, demos and retros.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming).
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C++).
- Familiarity with software development best practices such as version control (Git), testing, and debugging.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills and a growth mindset.
Bonus:
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with software engineering standard processes across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
