Our Company

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe's all about. We give everyone-from emerging artists to global brands-everything they need to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences! We're passionate about empowering people to create beautiful and powerful images, videos, and apps, and transform how companies interact with customers across every screen.

We're on a mission to hire the very best and are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has access to equal opportunity. We realize that new ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours!

The Opportunity

Adobe Developer Platforms has the mission to help Developers "write better software, faster." Our goal is to provide integrated experiences for technical folks, to streamline the tasks of building, testing, deploying and operating services at scale. We strive to build into all our product offerings strong defaults around security, cost efficiency, reliability and operational observability, to minimize the cognitive load and toil needed to effectively build and run services at web scale.

We build platforms and work to deliver them as an integrated product to our customers, who come in two main classes:
  • Developers, Site Reliability Engineers, Database Engineers and other technical folks inside Adobe who build our products, our platforms and internal IT systems.
  • Outside Developers and employees at our customer companies, consultancies and independent software vendors, who are building on, extending and integrating with our products to add new capabilities or to solve unique integration challenges.

For this role, we are looking for someone to lead the infrastructure engineering effort for Adobe's Developer Platforms team. We seek a self-starter who will drive projects to achieve results and meaningful outcomes. You should be respected as a thought leader, able to influence, persuade and direct sound technical and architectural choices across many teams. You will need to demonstrate executive presence, represent technical direction and architectures to everyone from new grads to C-level executives and do more than talk - you will build and own critical services and deliver them to production. This is an operations-heavy role - your team will manage a significant subset of all compute infrastructure at Adobe and the leader will need significant operational experience in a high-scale, cloud-based, high-reliability, and always-on operational environment.

What you'll Do
  • Lead the Infrastructure Engineering team, which provides compute as a service via managed Kubernetes, as well as a unified and integrated API gateway. This team manages hundreds of K8s clusters across multiple cloud providers and Adobe-managed data centers.
  • Define the long-term strategy for Infrastructure Engineering, including new areas for greenfield exploration such as Infrastructure Resource Lifecycle Management, and managed-DBs as a service, including deployment pipelines and observability.
  • Speak at industry events, representing Adobe's Developer Platforms group and our strategy for approaching Developer Experience and Platform Engineering.
  • Act as a liaison to client and partner engineering teams to share the Developer Platforms mission, vision and roadmap
  • Gather input on client needs and proposed integration points with technical services which are delivered by our partner organizations
  • Inspire and encourage our internal customer teams to contribute to Developer Platforms via an internal open source and open contribution model
  • Review and provide feedback on features, technology, architecture, designs, time & budget estimates, and test strategies
  • Manage projects risks & engage in creative problem solving
  • Develop and evolve engineering and business processes to optimize team efficiency
  • Partner with other teams across Adobe on achieving common goals

What you need to succeed
  • Deep customer empathy for the Developer as our primary customer stakeholder
  • Well versed with distributed computing principles and approaches, including Kubernetes
  • Proven experience building reliable, high-scale, cost-efficient cloud services.
  • Experience with hands-on DevOps and CI/CD practice on large scale cloud services
  • Well versed in writing optimized code and architectural patterns for optimization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 12+ years of hands-on development experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading Development Teams
  • 5+ years of experience as a manager of managers and Director-level folks
  • A commitment to building exceptional, diverse and high-performing teams
  • Strong persuasion and influence skills
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Desirable: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
