Teradata Administrator

Introduction:

We are seeking an experienced Teradata Administrator to manage, monitor, and optimize Teradata database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and system upgrades to ensure optimal availability and reliability of data systems supporting enterprise analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Teradata Database systems and related tools.
  • Monitor database performance, resource utilization, and system health.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and workload management.
  • Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Manage user access, roles, and security within Teradata environments.
  • Apply database patches, upgrades, and perform regular maintenance.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and analysts to ensure database efficiency.
  • Automate administrative tasks using BTEQ, TPT, or shell scripting.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, manage incident resolution, and support production environments.
  • Document database processes, configurations, and operational standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Teradata database administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Teradata utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, FastExport, TPT).
  • Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
  • Experience with Teradata Viewpoint, BAR (Backup, Archive, and Restore).
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
