World Wide Technology is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA - SQL/Oracle) in Anchorage, AK 99508 (Onsite). This role is part of WWT s Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT s preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $55.00 to $60.00 hourly (Salary $115K/annum). Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.

Objectives
The Database Administrator (DBA - SQL/Oracle) is responsible for the design, implementation, security, ongoing support, and optimization of enterprise databases at our client_ supporting a mission-critical environment. This role ensures database reliability, performance, scalability, and efficiency while supporting application development, upgrades, and system enhancements. Additionally, the Database Administrator researches emerging technologies, automation strategies, evaluates system improvements, and provides expert guidance on database-related initiatives to ensure alignment with industry best practices and business objectives.

Responsibilities and Authorities

Performs Personally
Controls and monitors system-level and database owner access to enterprise databases.
Directs, coordinates, creates and maintains database elements in all enterprise databases.
Performs database programming to provide data to front-end applications.
Responsible for the database backup and recovery, scheduling, disaster prevention, and documentation.
Responsible for adequate data retention on databases.
Monitors database performance and capacities, optimizing them for efficiency.
Provides in-depth technical support for resolving database-related problems.
Develops and maintains naming standards, in-house educational material and language interfaces to database as necessary.
Plans and implements installations, patches, and updates to the database software.
Acts as primary contact between client and database software vendors for problem resolution, support and maintenance issues.
Provides application and platform-based impact assessment for proposed upgrade projects and support tasks, as required.
Automates database tasks using current tools and scripting languages, improving efficiency and reliability.

IT Management: Receives direction and assistance from, exchanges information and makes recommendations.
Other Information Technology Staff: Works directly with, exchanges information, makes recommendations, advises in areas related to database management.
Users: Provide product support, exchanges information.
External
Vendors and Consultants: Consults and coordinates with, and exchanges information.
User Community: Provides product support
Software and Hardware Vendors: Consults with, performs advanced troubleshooting, reports and solves problems

Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience as a Database Administrator, of which two years must have been in and Oracle version release in the past ten years, and two years must have been in database design or database programming and development, all within an enterprise environment.
AND
Bachelor's degree with either the major or minor in computer science or related field , e.g. MIS, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, STEM.
OR
Four years of additional equivalent experience may be substituted for the required degree.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Proficiency writing complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Proficiency with data analysis theory and techniques, including logical and physical database design.
Proficiency with desktop computers utilizing Microsoft Windows.
Advanced query tuning and performance optimization experience.
Proficient in scripting and automation with interfaces and languages such as Microsoft PowerShell, PL/SQL, and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).
Applications development experience in client/server computer environment preferred.
Proficiency creating database objects such as tables, constraints, views, procedures, functions, and packages in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills in enterprise environments.

Standard office environment.
This position is subject to call-out outside of normal working hours with some weekend work.
