Summary

You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Senior Utilities Engineering Technician) in the Utilities and Energy Branch, Public Works Department Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Virginia, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.

Duties

Help

  • You will advise leadership on technical requirements based on the results of inspections or assessments.
  • You will present assessment or audits results or project findings to senior leadership for review and implementation.
  • You will collect technical data after observing systems and equipment used in operations to determine the degree of efficiency and malfunctioning of operations.
  • You will manage data contained in facilities information systems, (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Maximo) to ensure information is accurate.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that utilities asset inventories and preventative maintenance plans are accurate by adding and removing assets, editing specifications, and having accurate and current data updated in MAXIMO.
  • You will be responsible for managing the utilities data based on asset criticality and Condition Rating of the asset.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating, conducting, and tracking of utilities condition assessments.
  • You will execute data entry, software training, and keep leadership informed of all program guidance and direction.
  • You will review utility asset records are correctly updated after the completion of construction or projects affecting such assets.
  • You will develop plans for collection of priority data for locations and utility systems that are not currently identified.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and

    maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may be required to travel for training and travel within the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic area of responsibility to assist other Public Works

    Departments within FEC Washington with their Utilities Infrastructure Condition Assessment Programs.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes when making site visits, as determined by site conditions and applicable safety regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Demonstrating expertise and experience in installation utilities systems; 2) Ensuring that utilities asset inventories and preventative maintenance plans are accurate and up to date; 3) Maintaining accurate records of preventative maintenance performance and inspection schedules; 4) Training and assisting staff entering and using utilities data; 5) Providing technical guidance on the most efficient and cost effective methods for sustaining installation utility production and distribution systems.
