Job Details

JOB SUMMARY: Located in downtown Calgary and reporting to the IT Manager, this role is for a customer-focused Senior IT Systems Administrator responsible for incident management, service requests, maintenance, and projects supporting Shareworks by enterprise data centre infrastructure. The role involves supporting and monitoring two data centre locations, handling escalations from multiple service desk levels, and ensuring reliable operations within a 24x7x365 environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in network, server, and storage administration, along with leadership in mentoring and implementing enterprise IT initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure reliable, efficient operation of production data centre infrastructure and services with 24x7x365 uptime. Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain data centre infrastructure systems. Design and document network strategies, including logical and physical diagrams. Lead and mentor less-experienced engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight. Partner with development and operations teams to meet organizational goals and enhance reliability. Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and system responsiveness. Lead large-scale IT initiatives and enterprise disaster recovery planning and implementation. Perform daily maintenance and monitoring of LAN/WAN services per established procedures. Continually seek opportunities to improve client satisfaction and deepen stakeholder relationships. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in computer science or related Engineering field. 7+ years of IT infrastructure administration in data centre/SaaS architectures within DevOps/Agile frameworks. Expertise in enterprise-class network administration (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto). Strong hands-on experience with Linux (Red Hat) and Oracle Database Administration. 10+ years of experience with VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN). 7+ years in firewall and VPN design/implementation (e.g., Juniper SRX). Extensive experience with data storage solutions and enterprise security administration. Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring software (PRTG, Sensu). Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Administration (2008/2012/2016). Familiarity with collaboration tools (Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft CRM). Expertise with backup and replication technologies (Quantum, EMC Data Domain). Experience with VLANs, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and distributed file system architectures. Proficiency with SAN Storage environments and Lenovo Flex System infrastructures. Hands-on experience automating processes using Ansible. Education: Bachelors Degree
