Job Description

Ford is seeking to hire an OTA Application System Engineer! This person will be an integral part of the Operations and Quality Team responsible for writing requirements for software updates of tool and electronic control units. You will be involved in triaging process, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. This team member is expected to be an SME in the software update process, with expertise in FMA Quality and CAN communication protocol.

What you will do:
  • Provide technical leadership in the delivery of the Vehicle Software Update Solution including all aspects of the delivery cycle.
  • Build technical specifications and documentations for Vehicle Software Update.
  • Own the System Design and define the architecture by decomposing requirements into component responsibilities and defining integration points between components/nodes.
  • Release and manage Specs in VSEM/FEDE/JAMA
  • Cascade and explain requirements to all Vehicle Software Update feature partners (D&R, Systems, Suppliers, Cloud..etc)
  • Perform early bring-up, prototype proofing, support incremental sprint deliveries.
  • Sign-off on test plan correctness and completeness (demonstrating ultimate accountability for the delivery)
  • Triage issues and support downstream team: conformance testers, system testers, service testers, field deployments, etc.
  • Performing vehicle testing related to Vehicle Software Update using CAN and other tools.
  • Monitor Requirements fulfillment and track requirements deviations.
  • Participate in different projects meetings, presentations and technical design reviews (TDRs)
  • Prepare proposals and other presentations for business and technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams and partners including D&R engineers, system engineering, Cloud operation,..etc
  • Support addressing issues /concerns related to functional safety requirements (FuSa)
  • Analyze issues and concerns and create a clear and detailed understanding of root cause, define resolution and prevention of failures and other technical duties.
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Criticality evaluation (FMEA) to identify risks and calculate probability of occurrence/criticality of failure modes for electrical components.
  • Lead collaboration with different teams, to ensure total feature performance is covered, and validation/integration gaps are eliminated.
  • Create, review and ensure end to end FMEA and functional safety for Vehicle Software Update for different programs and architectures.
  • Experience in FMA Quality Disciplines.
  • Prepare, execute and maintain new and existing FMEAs.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply engineering disciplines for Distributed Feature level Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA).
  • Lead FMA and quality documents such as Change Point Analysis, Quality History, DFMEA, PFMEA,

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Software Engineering, or related degree
  • 5+ years of experience of system level design
  • Expertise with FMA Quality process
  • 5+ years of experience in CAN communication and CAN tools such as CANoe and CANalyzer
  • 3 + years of experience with vehicle software updates (OTA, Service, Manufacturing, etc).
  • 2 + years of Failure Mode Effect Analysis. (FMEA)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skillls
  • Must have leadership skills with the ability to lead discussions, participate in project meetings and technical design reviews effectively
