Senior AWD Redshift DBA

Location Reston, VA

FULLTIME with Hexaware

Senior AWS Redshift DBA with strong skills in managing AWS RDS (Postgres) and Oracle database instances on AWS Cloud.

Key Responsibilities
Manage, monitor, and optimize AWS Redshift clusters for data warehousing and analytics workloads.
Administer AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Oracle databases, ensuring high availability, security, backup, and recovery.
Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations on AWS.
Good knowledge on Flyway and creating deployments using Flyway.
Implement database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting for Redshift, RDS, and Oracle.
Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and archival strategies aligned with business requirements.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support hybrid cloud environments.
Utilize scripting (Python, Bash) to automate routine database administration and monitoring tasks.
Ensure database security, compliance, and best practices within AWS environments.
Participate in 24x7 production support and incident resolution.
Required Skills and Experience
Proven experience as AWS Redshift DBA managing large-scale data warehouses.
Strong expertise in AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Oracle database administration on AWS.
Hands-on experience with database migration, upgrades, patching, and cloud-native database tools.
Solid understanding of database security, backup/recovery, and performance monitoring.
Proficient in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and shell scripting (Python, Bash).
Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, including IAM, networking, and monitoring tools.
Experience with cloud automation and infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of NoSQL databases and data streaming tools like Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
Experience with APIs, RESTful services, and containerization tools like Docker.
Familiarity with middleware, messaging systems, and enterprise architectural patterns.
Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
