Job Overview
The Client is seeking an experienced Senior Security Operations Engineer to play a key role in safeguarding enterprise information systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring extensive, hands-on experience in information security operations, network defense, threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response. This position requires deep expertise across security policy, intrusion detection/prevention, firewalls, anti-malware and phishing protection, authentication, log analysis, endpoint and perimeter defense, and network security protocols. The Senior Security Operations Engineer will also contribute to the organization s technology roadmap, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, and aligned with modern cybersecurity best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise-wide security infrastructure.
  • Identify security risks and engineer effective mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and security groups to secure network projects and operations.
  • Maintain system security policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, network scans, and penetration testing; monitor logs for emerging threats.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results and coordinate remediation with business, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Provide security design input for cloud-based initiatives, particularly Azure solutions.
  • Support internal and external IT audits; review findings, recommend corrective actions, and drive remediation efforts.
  • Ensure device configurations follow best practices and documentation is continuously updated.
  • Lead and coordinate the response to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Align security operations with the organization s strategic plan and technology roadmap.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in information systems security, including development and enforcement of security policy.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Web security gateways, network access control, endpoint security, perimeter security technologies.
    • Firewalls, anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-phishing, and authentication systems.
    • Intrusion detection/prevention systems, log management, and web content filtering.
    • TCP/IP and other network/security protocols across all OSI model layers.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Identify, assess, and remediate enterprise-wide security risks.
    • Detect, respond to, and remediate security incidents.
    • Conduct penetration testing and use web-related security tools.
    • Remediate System Security Plans (SSP) and Risk Assessments (RA) in a cybersecurity context.
    • Perform enterprise-level threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments, including breach response coordination.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills for technical and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CISSP certification (preferred but not required).
  • Prior experience in government IT environments is a plus.
