Job Title: Contract UI/UX + Front-End Developer
Location: Hybrid, 2 days a week in Lansing office
Contract Length: Full-time position with minimum 1-year contract
About the project:
Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has 16 applications that are being supported with sunset technologies. These systems support independent licensing and registration functions within MGCB. The applications support the licensing, compliance, and security including creation of identification badges for licensed casino employees, management of responsible gaming database (problem gamblers) and management of their licensing approval process.
The objective of this project is to modernize the legacy IT applications used by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB). This will be achieved by rewriting them using current, supported technologies, thereby mitigating risks associated with end-of-life applications and ensuring ongoing operational support for MGCB business functions.

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Contract UI/UX + Front-End Developer to join our project team for a minimum one-year engagement. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing web applications that meet our business objectives and provide exceptional user experiences. You will bridge the gap between design and technical implementation, working closely with product owners, business analyst, solution architect, and back-end developers.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into effective UI/UX designs and front-end solutions.
- Design and prototype business web applications using tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or similar.
- Convert UI/UX designs into high-quality, responsive, and performant front-end components.
- Develop and maintain web applications using HTML, CSS, Tailwind, or SASS.
- Develop and implement interactive web applications using JavaScript or Typescript, and/or front-end libraries such as React or Angular.
- Utilize code repositories (e.g., GitHub, Azure Repos) for version control, collaborative development, and code management.
- Work with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
- Actively participate in an agile development environment, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and demonstrate a collaborative mindset.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing business web applications.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe XD, Figma, or similar UI/UX design and prototyping tools.
- 5+ years of experience converting UI/UX designs into front-end components.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Tailwind, or SASS.
- Experience with JavaScript or Typescript.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools, such as Webpack, Babel, and NPM.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in an agile development environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience with Agile and/or Scrum methodologies.
- A portfolio of past projects demonstrating your UI/UX and front-end work is required for consideration.
Nice-to-Have (Optional):
- Hands-on experience with React and/or MUI.
- Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest front-end and UX design trends and technologies.
- .NET Web API's (a plus).
