Lead System Engineer

The Lead system Engineer will architect, engineer, implement, test, and document systems and components commensurate with their experience under the limited supervision of more engineering staff in support of a systems engineering effort.

Essential Job Functions

• Review and analyze complex process and system specifications
• Serve as a subject matter expert for one or more areas (preferably Azure, M365, and Entra ID)
• Designs, implements, customizes, and maintains solutions to vendor and industry best practices (in particular, Microsoft best practices)
• Recommends and leads implementation of enhancements and updates adherence to Change Management processes
• Ability to participate in technical and business discussions relative to future enterprise direction. Provides strategic consulting to business and IT leaders. Works with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy.
• Lead/Co-lead internal project/program level process improvement initiatives. Provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools
• Implements and updates monitoring tools
• Champion the collaborative resolution of defects
• Informally mentor more junior staff
• Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls
• Ensure all work products meets /exceeds company standards

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline with at least eight (8) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects as committed with limited oversight
• Significant experience with Microsoft M365 administration, automation, and integration with the ability to go technically deep across M365 services, and actively seek solutions to customer needs and communicate trends to leadership.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Entra ID administration, automation, integration including Conditional Access
• Expertise in Microsoft Active Directory architecture, protocols, and security
• Experience with Azure (Enterprise Landing Zone) Governance, Policies, Architecture and Automation
• Experience with Agile software development, iterative delivery, and cloud computing
• Experience with encryption, certificates, and PKI
• Expert proficiency in PowerShell for both administration, automation, and reporting
• Experience (or ability to quickly learn) Splunk for troubleshooting and reporting
• Familiarity with security best practices such as RBAC, least privilege, MFA
• Certification in Microsoft and/or competing Cloud Technologies strongly preferred. Can include MSCE in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Core Infrastructure, Mobility or Productivity
• Understanding of and ability to migrate from various third-party platforms to Microsoft 365
• Build a close working relationship with other engineering teams related to assigned service areas to leverage in case of escalations, as well as to drive product improvements.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
• Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions:

• Primarily remote with work performed in an office environment as needed/required.
