Job Details
This role requires someone with deep Power BI platform experience and the ability to connect business semantics with LLM-driven GenAI tools.
Core Skills & Experience
Power BI Expertise
- Advanced DAX and M Query development
- Deep understanding of the Power BI semantic layer (Tabular models, XMLA endpoints)
- Experience building enterprise-grade dashboards and performance-optimized datasets
- Familiarity with Power BI Copilot or natural language-to-query generation
GenAI & Integration Experience
- Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, HuggingFace)
- Experience with prompt engineering, semantic mapping, and natural language to BI query transformations
- Understanding of agent frameworks (e.g., Semantic Kernel, LangChain) is a plus
- Ability to collaborate with AI developers to translate business questions into AI/BI pipelines
ETL & Data Prep Layer
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Power BI Dataflows, or Synapse Pipelines
- Capability to validate source system mappings and resolve semantic model mismatches
Business Acumen & Communication
- Ability to interface with stakeholders to gather use cases and map them to AI + BI features
- Understanding of data governance, access control, and reporting policies in public sector contexts
As a Second Architect, this role will focus on:
- GenAI / LLM Architecture: Agent orchestration, prompt design + API, natural language UX, DevOps / AI Engineering
- Power BI / Semantic Model Architecture: Semantic-to-visual logic, DAX logic + XMLA structure, dashboard layout, filters, drill-down UX, BI model optimization & governance alignment
Optional Skills That Boost Fit:
- Azure Synapse or Fabric understanding (for a tight Microsoft ecosystem fit)
- Experience with state agency BI projects or compliance-heavy BI
- Familiarity with row-level security (RLS), sensitivity labels, and PII-safe reporting practices
