Duration: 12 months (with potential for extension or full-time conversion)

Position Overview:

Join the company Safety and Compliance Investigations (S&CI) team as a Safety & Airworthiness Specialist, where you'll lead and conduct detailed Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations into regulatory compliance issues. Your work will directly support commitment to product safety and regulatory integrity across the aircraft lifecycle.

This role offers high visibility, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to influence systemic improvements in compliance and certification processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead structured investigations into compliance issues, including FAA Letters of Investigation, Voluntary Disclosures, Self-Audit findings, and Part 25 Airworthiness Non-Compliances.
  • Apply the Problem Solving Model (BPSM) to identify root causes, develop containment and corrective actions, and ensure non-recurrence.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams (Systems, Structures, Payloads, Propulsion), suppliers, and internal stakeholders to align on investigation outcomes.
  • Ensure investigation documentation meets FAA and Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA) standards.
  • Partner with enterprise teams to enhance investigation tools and processes in alignment with company future goals.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences, including executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Aviation Safety Office (CASO) and program leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience combination).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects independently.
  • Demonstrated initiative and accountability in completing tasks accurately and on time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in RCCA tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, BPSM).
  • Experience with commercial aircraft operations, certification, and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory compliance and ODA procedures (per FAA Order 8100.15).
  • Experience working with FAA or other regulatory bodies.
  • Background in aircraft systems design or integration (e.g., Avionics, Flight Controls, Hydraulics).
  • Pilot's License and/or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
Education:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years, or 10+ years of equivalent industry experience.
