Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times (Tues., Wed., Thurs.) a week, at minimum.
The Engineering Group Manager of the Virtualization and SIL Integration team in the Software Defined Vehicle - Embedded Platforms organization will lead a technical team of Software Engineers specialized in virtualization and SIL integration in designing, building, and deploying Virtual Test Environments (CoSimulation Environments) at system and vehicle level for automotive embedded software and calibration development. The EGM will be working closely within a global team that is ultimately responsible for delivering CoSimulation environments for Application and Infrastructure Software and calibration development. The EGM will lead a team of GM direct and/or contract resources spread across multiple scrum teams leveraging agile methodologies to implement virtualization strategies and methods. Experience with software centric vehicle and system level virtualization and integration, industry standards (FMU, SSP, etc.), cloud computing architecture, virtual ECU development detailed process, embedded controls systems, and strong technical, interpersonal and team leadership skills will be essential. The job entails directly overseeing the development, release, and deployment of virtual test assets, while working closely with the global virtualization, systems, and internal users' teams.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the team responsible for virtual test assets and CoSimulation environment development
- Lead a team of GM employees and/or contract resources (onsite, remote, and offshore) working on CoSimulation development
- Strategize and advance CoSimulation development and scalability
- Work closely with other parts of the organization to ensure strategic alignment and drive product roadmap to support out of the box support for automotive embedded software requirements.
- Lead world-class scalable cloud-based CoSimulation development and deployment
- Work closely with platform and CI/CD teams to integrate continuous testing using virtual ECUs and CoSimulation packages in the cloud-based platform
- Work with the embedded software development teams across multiple domains to understand their plans and needs and proactively develop build CoSimulation solutions.
- Proactively engaged in the team's day to day work and allocate team tasks reasonably according to project objectives and ensuring delivery according to milestones.
- Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
- Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
- Leads team to meet targets.
- Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
- Hiring: Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
- Develop team's capabilities and provide mentorship to team members.
- Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
- Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
- Develop and manage the team's travel, training, and indirect budget.
- Keep abreast with industry landscape and tools used in virtualization to ensure we are using state of the art tools.
- Participate in regular process improvement, management forums and transformational initiatives.
- Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data.
- Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
- Propulsion Control (Specifically EV Propulsion)
- CoSimulation development
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent majors required. Masters Degree preferred
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in software or tools development
- 2+ years experience leading/managing engineering teams
- 2+ years of virtualization and simulation experience
- People management experience will be preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively cross functionally.
- Strong team management and people development skills
