Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of an Engineering Technician for a contract position in Round Rock, TX. The opportunity will be six months with a strong chance for a long-term extension.
Position Summary:
The primary function of this role is to provide L1/2 systems support and L1 networking support for engineering teams developing enterprise server and storage products.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs design characterization on all Product Group products.
- Analyzes characterizations for violations of known specifications, potential violations and overall signal integrity. Proposes and or implements fixes for any known violations.
- Troubleshoots and repairs systems to the component level. Sets up, configures and tests prototype systems and software. Assembles and disassembles prototype systems as necessary.
- Researches and learns new technologies and procedures to remain current with industry standards and new products. Sets up and operates calibrates electronic test equipment, and verifies its working condition maintains its working condition.
- Develops debugging interfaces for test equipment. Makes some recommendations for resolution. Has an understanding of test results. Works with greater autonomy, but still requires regular guidance
- Maintain lab inventory and perform server rebuild / reconfiguration support as needed
- Oversee the timely distribution of assets to athe ppropriate engineering group(s)
- Supporting engineering departments in development, prototyping, deployment, and in-market activities
- Investigate and resolve application and network issues reported by internal customers using monitoring software, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Support LAN with MS AD and multi-OS server environment - interface with WAN NetOps team for modifications and site-to-site integration as required."
Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise storage, server and switch products.
- Experience with Linux, Windows Server, or VMWare/vSphere/vCenter.
- Experience in the augmentation of physical server configuration
- Self-driven, motivated
- 3-5 years of experience ideal - looking for a candidate who wants to learn
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Experience with vRealize Orchestrator, vRealize Automation, Enterprise Storage, Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence)"
