Title: Cost Estimator I
Location: Jackson, MI 49201 - Onsite

Pay Range: $40 - $45/hr
About the Role:
- We are seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for medium-sized and complex projects across various types of contracts.
- The role requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the area of responsibility.
- The successful candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, with a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
Responsibilities:
- Develop pricing using industry-standard guidelines and estimating guides.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and utilize software tools daily.
- Calculate complete takeoffs of the scope of work for discipline estimates.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings, and attend meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Coordinate the total estimating effort relevant to particular bids/projects as assigned.
- Utilize Cost Estimating software with guidance from Senior Estimators.
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures and assist Senior Estimators in incorporating data into the cost database.
- Interface with owners, architects/engineers, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
- Break estimates into a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) by material, labor, and equipment.
- Apply estimating standards for mark-up, contingency, and other construction percentages.
Education Qualification:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred. However, relevant experience in estimating may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Electrical Utility (Substation, HVD, LVD) discipline, estimating techniques, and cost control.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Experience in disciplines of estimating such as Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Pipeline, Storage, M&R.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of construction cost estimating experience.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
