SAIC is seeking an AI/ML Services Lead to join our energized team as we embark on a large AI initiative.

The AI/ML Services Lead will be responsible for spearheading the rapid integration of AI/ML technologies across all domains within the Department of Defense (DoD). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the DoD remains competitive with pacing strategic competitors by enabling the seamless deployment of AI/ML solutions from strategic planning to operational execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and data scientists in developing and deploying AI/ML systems.
  • Enable the rapid integration of AI/ML technologies across all DoD domains, facilitating competitiveness and agility in evolving strategic landscapes.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated and federated AI/ML development and deployment capability to support diverse operational requirements.
  • Lead efforts to efficiently label DoD component data across multiple modalities, transforming raw data into curated datasets suitable for supervised AI/ML development.
  • Establish and manage a centralized repository for mission-relevant engineered features, facilitating sharing and reuse while supporting automated feature engineering initiatives.
  • Curate and deploy centralized versions of state-of-the-art foundational models and specialized models in specific domain areas, such as DoD lexicon-specific Natural Language Processing (NLP) models.
  • Implement and manage a federated catalog with associated APIs and integration tools, enabling metadata sharing and access information for DoD datasets and AI models.
  • Develop and maintain containerized capabilities to support AI development in edge environments, ensuring adaptability and scalability across diverse operational settings.
  • Knowledge of basic algorithms, object-oriented and modern design principles (cloud, containerization, etc.), and best-practice patterns

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • US. Citizenship is required
  • Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of experience in Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline, Master's degree and six (6) years of experience or PhD and four (4) years of experience. Will consider additional years of experience in lieu of education
  • Two or more years of experience in applying AI to practical and comprehensive technology solutions
  • Experience across the AI/ML lifecycle from data collection and curation to production, deep learning, TensorFlow, Python, NLP, data engineering, MLOps, and/or, AI governance/ethics

Desired Qualifications:
  • Active TS security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Experience with one of the large cloud-computing infrastructure solutions similar to AWS, MS Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) environment, data platforms including Spark, Databricks, or similar
  • Experience leading a cross-functional technology team


Target salary range: $175,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
