Postgres Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for experienced Database Engineers with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and a working knowledge of Ruby. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in database design, optimization, and refactoring, and will be comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, refactor, and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, tables, and complex joins.
• Analyze and improve query performance and indexing strategies.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient data access and storage.
• Implement best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.
• Work with Ruby-based applications to support data integration and backend logic.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in development and production environments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ to 12+ years of experience in database engineering or administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including:
• Table refactoring
• Complex joins
• Query optimization and performance tuning
• Basic experience with Ruby programming and integration with databases.
• Solid understanding of relational database principles and data modelling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance dashboards.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
