Job Details

Leidos' Office of Technology's Digital Engineering team has several opportunities for experienced Software Engineers looking for remote work or working out of any major Leidos location. This role gives team members a chance to develop products and services and facilitate cross-functional collaboration within the Defense Systems Sector. The Digital Engineering team known as HERMES is a service-oriented organization that works with programs and project teams to systematically improve efficiency, eliminate and prevent pain points, and bring modern digital practices to the hands of the tactical day-to-day employee. Under the Director of Digital Engineering, HERMES is responsible for architecting and implementing large-scale Digital solutions, independent reviews of digital practices, and support of teams implementing new practices. The team plays a pivotal role in fostering teamwork, creativity, and technological advancement in digital engineering initiatives, driving competitive advantage and value creation for the organization.

Selected candidate will have experience in full-stack software development and able to assist in the solution design implementation particularly in the data layer, application, and data integration (API solutioning), application coding, and UI/UX. You will have opportunities to adapt the Digital Architecture solution to various defense system programs within Space, Maritime, Land, and Air domains. You will get to hone your soft skills through collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams including systems engineers, other software developers, and solution architects to ensure project goals align, and program deadlines are met.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Aid in process improvement initiatives by researching emerging digital engineering technologies and providing recommendations for integration.
  • Document technical solutions, workflows, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and adherence to standards.
  • Participate in meetings, prepare reports, and present technical insights to team members and stakeholders.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, performance analysis, and optimization of digital engineering systems.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to best practices in software design and architecture.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer engineering or related discipline with minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience with application and data layer programming.
  • Experience with developing and implementing ETL processes in a cloud-based AWS environment (data extraction, parsing, cleansing/curation, translation/transformation, tagging, loading, replication, and distribution).
  • Experience with developing custom codes to ingest, curate and exploit new and existing data sources.
  • Proven soft skills in working with various personality types.
  • ship is required and able to obtain Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Secret clearance preferred.
  • Experience with Cloud architecture, integration, and automation.
  • Experience with Restful APIs, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, Prefect, Minio, Kafka, NiFi, Accumulo, PostgreSQL, Python, R, Java, C/C++, data management and analytics tools, Jenkins/Ansible, AWS S3 and SQS solutions.
  • Familiarity with developing and deploying CI/CD pipeline and tools.
  • AWS related certifications desired.
