Join our team and help us keep communities connected. Stantec's New England Transportation group is looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer in Portland, ME! Stantec's New England Transportation group has an immediate need for a talented, team focused Transportation Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway/highway design and pedestrian/bicycle facility design. Project management experience is a plus and more experienced individuals are encouraged to apply as there is flexibility in this position.

This position is for an individual looking to challenge themselves on a variety of transportation projects in the region. The position is located in our Portland, Maine office with the ability for a hybrid work arrangement. We are looking for a Civil/Transportation Engineer who has a positive attitude, is a fast learner, and enjoys working in a team environment. The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and play a lead role in the highway design components of large and small roadway, multimodal and bridge projects throughout Maine and New England. This position is designed as a pathway toward a project manager role.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and MaineDOT specifications and CADD Standards using Microstation/InRoads and OpenRoads.
  • Develop and oversee design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, and concept design reports.
  • Collaborate with team members, other disciplines and offices, and sub-consultants.
  • Perform field investigations and construction phase services support.
  • Interact with and present project designs to clients, agencies, and the public.
  • Thorough understanding of project tasks within the overall project schedule, budgeting and available resources.
  • Provide guidance to mentor team members with a positive growth-oriented perspective.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Maine PE or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO and MaineDOT design standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microstation and InRoads. OpenRoads experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lead or assist leading a team through all phases of project design.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in in-office and virtual environments.
  • Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, punctual, and organized.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Comprehensive approach to challenges and problem-solving.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in design with project management experience a plus. More experienced individuals are encouraged to apply as the responsibilities of the position are flexible based on experience level.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
