Job Title: IT Infrastructure Analyst Database Administrator (DBA)
Work Schedule: On-site with potential for multiple local sites. The initial interview will be onsite in Sacramento
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Analyst DBA to support enterprise-level SQL Server environments. This position focuses on SQL Server administration, infrastructure planning, performance tuning, and mentoring junior team members, along with supporting data integration and reporting services. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server administration, and PowerShell automation, with a hands-on approach and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
SQL Database Administration:
- Mentor and train junior-level SQL Administrators
- Manage, monitor, and tune SQL Server databases (including Failover Cluster and Always On)
- Perform backups and restores (Flat and NetApp Snapshots)
- Configure and support database replication (Publisher/Subscriber)
- Administer SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Analyze and troubleshoot T-SQL code
- Enforce database security, backup, and recovery best practices
- Support relational and dimensional data modeling
- Develop T-SQL scripts for automation and consistency
- Maintain compliance with IT security policies
- Perform database restores while retaining security configurations
- Manage SSIS packages for data import/transformation from flat files, Excel, and MS Access
- Configure SQL resource-based constrained delegation
SQL Server Administration & Deployment:
- Plan, deploy, and manage SQL Server (2019 & 2022)
- Configure Kerberos authentication and troubleshoot server environments
- Perform in-place upgrades and migrate SSRS reports to new servers
- Scale SQL infrastructure for standalone and failover clusters
- Support Azure-based PaaS and IaaS environments
Windows Server Administration:
- Manage Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC)
- Automate server and SQL tasks using PowerShell
- Schedule and apply patches using enterprise tools (e.g., Tanium)
- Monitor and manage HPE server hardware (e.g., DL380/360 Gen10/11)
- Configure iSCSI LUNs and disk connectivity
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server tools and administration
- Hands-on experience with SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with NetApp, Kerberos, and SCADA SQL replication preferred
- Exposure to Oracle and RHEL a plus
