Overview
Department 427, Virginia Class Propulsion Plant Electrical Lead Design Yard (LDY), requires a motivated engineering supervisor to lead a group of engineers to support design development of the VIRGINIA Class electric plant, Forward/Aft power distribution electrical systems. This supervisor will be responsible for the VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM), Undersea Dominance (UD), Subsea and Seabed Warfare (SSW) and future concept power systems. Responsibilities include assignment of work within the group, with a heavy focus on the technical development of engineering personnel, driving cross discipline integration and integration between design and engineering.

This supervisor will be responsible for the VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM), Undersea Dominance (UD), Subsea and Seabed Warfare (SSW) and future concept power systems. Responsibilities include assignment of work within the group, with a heavy focus on the technical development of engineering personnel, driving cross discipline integration and integration between design and engineering.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a collaborative, inclusive and rewarding work environment and foster the growth of assigned employees. Including driving training, mentoring, and technical development of all engineers on the team.
- Technical oversight of impacts to the Virginia electric plant/power distribution systems in support of VPM/UD/SSW loads
- Electrical arrangement integration of cableways and components
- Development of design products (e.g. cabling diagrams, wiring tables, wire way and cable drawings, etc)
- Developing integrated logistic system (ILS) updates
- Presenting at periodic design/program reviews
- Proactive project management, with a back-to-basics approach for project scoping and scheduling intermediate project milestones.
- Working closely with design organizations, planning, and program office relative to the development of design products supporting planning/construction activities
- Support of Engineering key event and certification efforts
- Supporting waterfront construction support engineering, as required
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 4 years' experience in electrical engineering or engineering experience
- Current active DoD Secret clearance
- A working knowledge of MS Project, tracking of commitments, EVMS and Artemis Ability
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Virginia electric plant principles of operation
- Experience planning and executing complex projects or design changes that involve multiple departments and customers
- Knowledge of submarine propulsion plant design and analysis
- Experience working with advance, detail, and production planning
- Processing JCALS and TEAMCENTER design changes, resolve construction problems, or material deficiencies via ERMATs
- Experience working with equipment vendors supporting design, manufacture, and qualification of electrical components
- Design disclosure progressing though weekly ARTEMIS reports
- Working with specialty departments (EMI, Shock and Vibration, Special Emphasis)
- Working with PARMs to ensure system requirements are maintained
