Job Details

Summary

Performing mechanical engineering work through the life cycle of equipment from design development, to construction, installation and maintenance for industrial, commercial, and aerospace facilities. Work will entail performing in-field walk-downs of sites and facilities, analyzing systems and components, preparing design concepts sketches and drawings, compiling data and writing technical narrative reports. In addition, assigned work tasks will be diversified and require successful candidates to "think outside the box" and work well with multi-disciplinary engineering design teams.

Essential Functions
  • Perform facility mechanical and/or plumbing design engineering (plans, specifications, calculations and cost estimates) for new facilities, facility modernization and aerospace ground support facilities and equipment projects.
  • Perform system sizing calculations using engineering software and tools such as HVAC heat load calculations (Trane TRACE), pump sizing calculations, plumbing system sizing per code, etc.
  • Perform facility condition assessments and capital asset management planning.
  • Perform detailed construction cost analyses using RSMeans CostWorks and material take-offs of a variety of building types and equipment types (both US and international locations).
  • Perform field construction support.
  • Write technical design narrative reports and engineering trade studies.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary design teams.

Qualifications
  • BS Mechanical Engineering degree required from an ABET accredited program.
  • Entry Level position - 0 to 3 years' experience.
  • Prefer prior engineering co-op/internship experience
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams/Sharepoint and email Applications
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit (experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, PTC Creo or Solidworks and other modeling/drafting software preferred).
  • Experience in construction cost estimation software such as CostWorks or design markup/takeoffs in Bluebeam preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Valid/Unrestricted FL driver license

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain a clearance from the Defense Security Service and other Federal Government Agencies.

Work Environment
  • Most work is performed in an office environment. Field investigations and construction support require regular trips to operating facilities and active construction sites.

Travel
  • Position is based out of Merritt Island, FL location. Willingness to travel to locations where work is to be performed (15-30% travel requirement).
