Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in the Austin, TX area. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure. You will be instrumental in incident management, root cause analysis, driving automation, and promoting continuous improvement through SRE principles and cloud best practices. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain stable, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Implement and manage monitoring solutions using tools like Datadog, Nagios, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, and Splunk.
- Lead incident management efforts, perform thorough root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting, Ansible, and other relevant tools.
- Build, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and cloud best practices to daily operations.
- Adhere to ITSM and ITIL processes for service management.
- Provide technical support and guidance as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the cloud environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on experience as a Cloud Engineer, SRE, or similar role.
- Mandatory: Strong, demonstrable experience with Terraform, Shell scripting, and Ansible.
- Mandatory: Valid Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, Nagios, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk).
- Solid experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline).
- Deep understanding of SRE principles, cloud architecture best practices, ITSM, and ITIL frameworks.
- Experience in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical support skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment (partially remote, partially in Austin office).
