Title: Site Reliability Engineer III (SRE)
Rate: $65-70/hour
Location: Hybrid - Onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Arlington, TX; 3 days remote
Duration: 6-month contract to hire
Work Authorization: , or authorized to work in the U.S.


About This Role

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will provide leadership, direction, and accountability for building and running large-scale software systems. The role focuses on identifying and delivering automation solutions to ensure high availability and resiliency, leveraging expertise in software development, complexity analysis, and scalable system design. Collaboration with other engineering teams is essential to maintain stable, high-performing services and systems that meet business and end-user expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Guide architecture and development teams to ensure applications are highly available, reliable, and performant at scale.

  • Partner with the architecture team to ensure operability, measurability, and manageability are integrated into business features and enablers.

  • Collaborate with product owners and managers to establish service level objectives (SLOs) and define consequences if objectives are not met.

  • Work with development teams to identify monitoring gaps, improve application performance, and troubleshoot issues.

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production issues and failures within software, pipelines, or DevOps support processes.

  • Design, implement, and advocate for automated solutions to optimize uptime with minimal human intervention.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for troubleshooting and communication outside normal business hours.

  • Develop and implement standards and best practices, driving adoption across development teams and external vendors.

  • DevOps & CI/CD Tools: YAML, ARM, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Octopus Deploy

  • Pipeline Automation: Azure DevOps, GitHub

  • Code Scanning: SonarQube, Checkmarx, Blackduck

  • Source Code Repositories: Git

  • Containerization: Azure Kubernetes Service, Kubernetes (open source), Docker

  • Programming Languages: Java, C# (.NET MVC and .NET Core), Go

  • Scripting: PowerShell, Bash

  • Databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL (e.g., CosmosDB)

  • Test Automation Tools: Xamarin.UITest, Specflow, DevTest, Selenium, Test Data Manager, Postman, Maven, TestNG, JMeter

  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux

  • Cloud Platforms: Azure

  • Metrics and Monitoring: Splunk, Azure Application Insights, Azure Monitor

  • Networking: Azure DNS, Virtual Networks, Azure API Manager, Azure Application Gateway, Akamai WAF/CDN


Experience and Education

  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in software development and test automation.

  • 5-7 years of cloud experience preferred.

  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work/military experience required.

  • Master s Degree in a related field preferred.
