Title: Senior Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Engineer Aerospace / Defense

Location: Hauppauge , NY Remote

Employment Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire


We are seeking a Senior Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and PXI/PXIe systems to support the development, maintenance, and upgrade of production test systems for aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will be a with a strong background in hardware/software integration, avionics protocols, and MIL/Aerospace test standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and upgrade NI PXI-based automated test systems

  • Develop software in NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand for ATP/ESS production tests

  • Integrate 3rd-party hardware into existing NI-based systems for performance improvements

  • Troubleshoot and repair test equipment to resolve production line-down issues

  • Train production operators on software use, calibration, and test procedures

  • Perform failure analysis and provide recommendations for corrective actions

  • Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RTCA/DO-160, and IPC-610 requirements

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support avionics and aerospace programs

  • Create and maintain procedural documentation and test operator guides

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years in test system software & hardware development

  • Expert in NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and PXI/PXIe/PCI hardware

  • Strong knowledge of DAQ Cards, chassis, I/O modules

  • Experience with avionics/military protocols: ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, RS-232/422/485

  • Familiarity with I2C, SPI, JTAG, Ethernet, UDP, TCP/IP

  • Skilled in using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DAQs, RF/optical analyzers, multimeters

  • Experience qualifying embedded systems to MIL and IEC standards

  • Knowledge of analog circuits, embedded microprocessors, FPGAs, and supporting circuitry

  • Experience with MKS, Enovia, DOORS or similar tools
