# 1886 Group Controller
We are seeking a Group Controller to lead and stabilize accounting operations across several critical business units within a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who enjoys improving processes, building structure, and ensuring day-to-day accounting runs smoothly while partnering with operational leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Build and refine the chart of accounts, migrating and mapping legacy accounts into updated systems.
- Lead, coach, and develop the existing accounting team, fostering accountability and strong performance.
- Ensure month-end close and reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Identify and resolve issues within accounting workflows and processes, implementing practical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with operational leadership to support business decisions with clear financial insights.
- Maintain and improve financial reporting to ensure clarity, accuracy, and operational usefulness.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting systems (D365 or similar) to improve workflows.
- Establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures while adapting to a dynamic environment.
- Champion a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.
Requirements:
- Deep, hands-on accounting experience within automotive, manufacturing, industrial, or related environments.
- Proven experience building or restructuring accounting processes and teams, especially in settings with limited existing structure.
- Experience with ERP systems (D365 or similar) and comfort leading system transitions.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.
- Practical, problem-solving mindset with the ability to implement solutions effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting staff.
- Ability to thrive under deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across operations and finance.
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA required
- International exposure
