Marsh & McLennan Shared Services LLC is seeking candidates for the following full-time position based in the Westlake, TX office (A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies.):
Senior Specialist - Linux and Unix Platforms
We will count on you to:
Provide and oversee Operating System and hardware support. Ensure server incidents are managed within SLA. Organize server management and monitoring tools to proactively manage infrastructure. Install, monitor, and manage Windows, Virtualized ("Vmware"), or Unix/Linux server infrastructure and advanced features (e.g. Microsoft clusters, Hyper-V installations). Handle installations, patches, upgrades, capacity planning and performance tuning, through approved change management mechanisms. Manage moderate incident tickets to resolution, within SLA and to approved documented standards. Execute the diagnoses/repairs of system problems; utilize tools sets available and work closely with other internal group/vendor support. Execute the diagnosis, monitoring and troubleshooting of system performance. Advise on projects as an experienced team member and may lead internal project initiatives. Manage and ensure compliance with Corporate Security policies (Administrative Accounts use, antivirus, Patch status, Services, etc.). Manage vFoglight and other monitoring tools to maintain service performance, including proposals for improvement. Ensure all corporate processes are adhered to, ensuring changes to the Enterprise Service infrastructure are fully documented following the best practice principles of ITIL.
What you need to have:
Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field plus five (5) years of experience working with various operating system technologies, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability across multiple environments in the position offered or a related position. In the alternative, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept an additional two (2) years of experience in the field, for a total of seven (7) years of experience working with various operating system technologies, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability across multiple environments in the position offered or a related position. Must have five (5) years of experience with all of the following: Managing and deploying multiple versions of Oracle Linux in on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments, including system configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting; Hands-on experience with various versions of RedHat Linux performing installation, configuration, and maintenance in on-premises, virtualized, and cloud settings; Deploying and managing multiple versions of Ubuntu Linux, particularly in virtualized and cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and operation; Managing multiple versions of Solaris UNIX in on-premises environments, focusing on system administration and performance optimization; Utilizing Oracle Linux Manager (Spacewalk) for effective patch management and system updates, ensuring compliance and security across all systems; Enhancing automation and operational efficiency in various scripting languages; Developing and maintaining shell scripts for automation of routine tasks, system monitoring, and data processing, improving overall system performance and reliability; Utilizing HCL BigFix for endpoint management and automation, focusing on patch management and compliance across diverse environments; Engaging in the deployment and management of applications and services on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness; Participating actively in disaster recovery meetings, contributing to documentation, test execution, and process improvement initiatives to enhance recovery strategies and minimize downtime.
