Job Overview:
- Client is seeking an experienced Payments Release and CI/CD Consultant to modernize and stabilize the payment release management process for an on-prem Unix and Oracle-based environment.
- This role will focus on introducing source and artifact version control, implementing a CI/CD pipeline, automating deployment processes, and synchronizing UAT and production environments for internally developed applications and configurations.
- The consultant will play a key role in transitioning from manual deployments to an automated, repeatable process while ensuring traceability, stability, and compliance.
- The primary toolset will include Jenkins, Liquibase for Oracle, GitHub/Bitbucket for version control, Harness for automated deployments, and JFrog Artifactory for artifact management.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish Source and Artifact Version Control:
- Implement a structured version control strategy using GitHub or Bitbucket for internally developed applications and Oracle database scripts.
- Set up an artifact repository (e.g., JFrog Artifactory) to manage deployment packages and ensure traceability across environments.
- Standardize XML-based configurations into structured, version-controlled JAR artifacts for better deployment tracking.
CI/CD Pipeline Implementation for Unix and Oracle:
- Design and implement a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins, Harness, and Liquibase to automate deployments.
- Automate build, validation, and deployment processes for Unix-based applications, ensuring faster and more reliable releases.
- Implement Liquibase for Oracle CI/CD, ensuring database schema changes are properly versioned, tracked, and deployed.
- Establish automated validation checks to ensure UAT and production configurations remain in sync before deployment.
Automation of Configuration Synchronization:
- Develop automated scripts to replace the manual process of synchronizing UAT and production configurations.
- Implement environment-specific configuration management to ensure correct settings across deployments.
- Establish monitoring and alerting for configuration drift between environments.
Release Management and Deployment Process Enhancements:
- Overhaul the release management process to integrate CI/CD best practices and reduce manual Unix-based deployments.
- Define structured deployment workflows, ensuring proper governance, approvals, and rollback capabilities.
- Establish best practices for artifact promotion across environments, ensuring stability and traceability.
Incident Reduction and Environment Stability:
- Implement proactive measures to reduce recurring incidents caused by misconfigured or out-of-sync deployments.
- Work with the Platform Support team to integrate incident resolution into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring faster issue detection and rollback capabilities.
- Establish KPIs to measure release success, environment consistency, and deployment efficiency.
Stakeholder Communication and Governance:
- Act as the liaison between platform engineering, development, production support, and release teams, ensuring alignment across teams.
- Define release governance processes, ensuring proper approvals and validation before deployments.
- Provide structured reporting on CI/CD adoption progress, release health, and automation impact.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 plus years of experience in release management, CI/CD implementation, and configuration automation in an on-prem Unix and Oracle environment.
- Expertise in GitHub, Bitbucket, and JFrog Artifactory for source control and artifact management.
- Strong experience with Jenkins and Harness for CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Hands-on experience with Liquibase for Oracle database schema versioning and deployment automation.
- Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, or Ansible to automate deployment workflows and configuration synchronization.
- Deep understanding of manual Unix-based deployments and ability to transition to automated workflows.
- Experience with Jira for tracking artifacts, release workflows, and CI/CD integration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in incident root cause analysis and process improvement.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Bamboo, or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks for validating configuration changes before deployment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for payments systems and secure SDLC best practices.
