Position Overview

The Senior Business Analyst will support districtwide IT, school operations, and compliance initiatives. This role focuses on improving data quality, enhancing risk management, and streamlining workflows. The analyst will assess current systems, gather requirements across teams, and provide clear recommendations that improve usability, reduce risk, and enable data-driven decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

1. School Leader Information Centralization

  • Review current communication tools and identify gaps or risks.

  • Define project scope, goals, success metrics, and user requirements.

  • Deliver a complete requirements package to support project charter development.

  • Recommend technology, workflows, and governance for a centralized School Leader platform.

2. Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Solution

  • Lead business analysis for implementing a TPRM system that centralizes vendor risk, security, and compliance data.

  • Document current vendor categorization and risk gaps.

  • Map onboarding, approval, review, and contract workflows across procurement, IT security, legal, and data privacy.

  • Define requirements for an integrated TPRM platform (ERP, ServiceNow, DocuSign, CLM).

3. Value & Impact Analysis

  • Analyze benefits of improved data quality and centralized communication.

  • Quantify operational and financial impacts of poor data workflows.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis and process mapping.

  • Develop business cases for data quality, communication tools, and TPRM investment.

4. Storytelling & Business Case Development

  • Gather real examples from schools, IT, compliance, and vendor teams.

  • Create compelling narratives backed by metrics.

  • Develop executive-ready presentations including cost models and risk assessments.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Conduct requirements sessions with School Leaders, IT, compliance, procurement, and security teams.

  • Document user journeys, process flows, and future-state models.

  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams.

  • Support change management through clear messaging and training materials.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience

  • 5+ years in business analysis, ideally in public sector or large institutions.

  • Strong IT project experience with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in business cases, feasibility analysis, and project documentation.

  • Prior Chicago Public Schools (CPS) experience strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation abilities.

  • High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Experience with BA tools (requirements, process maps, data flows).

  • Strong project management and time-management capabilities.

  • Knowledge of Agile/Waterfall methodologies.

Preferred Certifications

  • CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP (preferred).

  • Knowledge of data governance, vendor risk, or regulatory frameworks (SOPPA, COPPA, FERPA, NIST).

  • Experience documenting requirements for security, privacy, or compliance solutions.

  • Understanding of system integrations, APIs, and enterprise interoperability.
