Job Title: Technical Preparation Engineer

Location: Macungie, PA

Onsite/ Remote: Day 1 Onsite at customer location

Duration: Full-time

Job Description: Technical Preparation Engineer

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Coordinate activities between GBT/GTT engineering and the VBC production engineering ensuring that manufacturing product requirements are implemented into new product designs.
  • Review, participate in, ensure production readiness, and co-ordinate implementation of new designs and changes through the production implementation stages (DVP).
  • Assures compliance with all applicable manufacturing policies and procedures relating to his/hers area of responsibility.
  • Represent VBC ME towards GBT/GTT product engineering in area of responsibility
  • Set technical requirements on product (incl. routing, ergonomic etc)
  • Secure MP and B/ C interfaces in product project in area of responsibility
  • Support routing development and validation according to chassis assembly process and golden rules when needed
  • Verify the product manufacturing readiness (PPR) along the development based on Virtual and / or Physical Manufacturing Verification to approve the technical solutions
  • Recommend Assembly distribution between VBC plants.
  • Perform technical ok prior to the approval of product structure launch into downstream systems
  • Support project builds Manage VBC project and maintenance Protus reports
  • Support different communities with Expert competences (Virtual Manufacturing, Task Forces, local packing meetings, etc..)
  • Support the Intro/production engineers to foresee that we install new process equipment, fixtures and tooling when needed in the introduction of our new products

Critical Competencies:

  • Good knowledge about Trucks and the diversity
  • Good knowledge about process and Assembly lines in his/her area
  • Good knowledge about our PrD process and what it means to industrialize new products into a production environment (preferably in automotive)
  • Analytical skills: able to compose and process data financially and technically such as business cases, stack chain analysis, matrices.
  • Attention to detail: unravel a design to improve assembly friendliness, with good accessibility and at lowest assembly time
  • Conceptual thinking: finding the best combination in product and process solutions.
  • Customer focus: Having both the final and internal customer in mind in developing solutions.
  • Computer literate and preferably experienced in working with design & product data management systems
  • Be a network builder and team player in a multicultural environment, have good negotiation skills, take initiatives, drive to deliver on time in full

Minimum Education:

  • BSc Degree in Engineering with, generally, experience equivalent to 2 or more years of progressive automotive experience,
  • OR a minimum of 8 years of applicable progressive automotive experience in for instance:
    • Process Engineering
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma Certification is a plus
