Job Details

Cloud Architecture, Solutions, & Engineering: Responsible for designing and developing cloud solutions in collaboration with agency cloud engineers; Acts as a subject matter expert on cloud architecture and services for a particular cloud provider

  • Leads cloud architects and engineers with regards to architecture and technical implementation
  • Collaborates with Cloud engineers to ensure organizational best practices are implemented across the entire cloud portfolio.
  • Ensures Digital Architecture standards are applied; negotiates and documents tradeoffs with Digital Architecture as needed.
  • Understand and delivers security guardrails and frameworks; upholds cloud security best practices.
  • Support application rationalization, vendor interactions, and procurements for cloud services.
  • Work with agencies and other stakeholders to define technical drivers for procurement activities and evaluate vendor responses.
  • Participate in and drive Cloud Governance board activities.

Cloud Strategy: Develops and drives the end-to-end technical roadmap for existing and proposed cloud services and articulates impact on the broader strategy; develops innovative solutions and technical strategy.

  • Understands business objectives, industry standards, and technical drivers around cloud strategy and their impact on current and future implementations of cloud; makes decisions based on these inputs.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for infrastructure as code templates to adhere to Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Makes recommendations on new procedures and overall approach in partnership with other cloud architects; negotiates and documents tradeoffs as needed.
  • Support annual cloud portfolio planning with agencies, in collaboration with Strategic Investment & Architecture team.
  • Owns Azure components of annual Cloud Strategic Plan

Agency Enablement: Responsible for providing technical oversight and guidance on all cloud services and deployable infrastructure.

  • Provides technical advisory to future and existing projects and programs.
  • Support buildout of financial operations reports and monitoring procedures, e.g., around resource utilization.
  • Assists with provisioning of cloud services and enablement of agency usage of state IaaS and PaaS offerings.
  • Works to establish guidelines, templates, best practices, and standards related to state cloud offerings.

Training and Knowledge Management: Serves as a mentor and SME to cloud architects and engineers and ideates appropriate training and education for agencies on architecture and services.

  • Collaborates with HR and vendors to create: 1. training recommendations for CCoE & agencies and 2. conduct informational trainings e.g, overviews of major people, process, and tools changes.
