Redmond, WA 5 days onsite
12 months contract with possible extension
$50/h - $55/h on w2

Manufacturing systems engineering under prod-ops is responsible for delivering test software, test hardware and test frameworks that improve speed and quality of testing of satellite components. We partner with engineering and production teams to bring reliability and repeatability to our test systems, improve throughput and accelerate the transition. We are looking for a Operations Test Engineer who ensures the smooth and reliable operation of Test Systems by providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements. They also contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networks.

A Test Operations Engineer role typically combines quality assurance, test automation, and operational support. The role often serves as a bridge between development, testing, and operations teams, requiring both technical expertise and strong collaborative abilities. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the key responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Test Environment Management
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot test environments
  • Manage test infrastructure and tools
  • Configure and maintain continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Handle test data management and database administration
  • Understand and Troubleshoot Test Executive/NI Teststand Sequence
  • Execution and ATE (Automated Test Equipment) Systems, preferably in satellite facility labs
  • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineers (MEs) on test station issues
  • Maintain and optimize test station network infrastructure
  • Debug communication issues between test equipment and control systems
  • Support production testing operations
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  1. Test Automation
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks
  • Create and execute automated test scripts
  • Implement performance testing solutions
  • Design and maintain test automation architecture
  1. Quality Assurance
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases
  • Perform functional, regression, and integration testing
  • Document and track software defects
  • Validate bug fixes and feature implementations
  1. Operations Support
  • Monitor system performance and reliability
  • Provide technical support for testing teams
  • Troubleshoot issues in test environments
  • Implement and maintain testing tools and processes

Required Skills:
1. Technical Skills
  • Programming knowledge (Python, Java, or similar languages)
  • Understanding of testing frameworks and tools
  • Database management skills
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Understanding of Linux/Unix systems
  • Experience with automated test equipment
  • Background in manufacturing or aerospace testing environments
  • Knowledge of satellite systems (preferred)

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 7-9 years of experience in software testing or development
