Job Description:

What We Do/Project:

As part of the Studio Economics transformation, we are evolving how finance, business, and technology collaborate-shifting to lean-agile, user-centric small product-oriented delivery teams (PODs) that design and deliver integrated, intelligent, and scalable solutions.

The Technical Product Owner (TPO) plays a critical role in this model by translating the product vision into a clear, feasible, and sustainable technical execution plan.

The TPO partners closely with the Business Product Owner, Designers, Engineers, Platform Architects, and Data teams to ensure that solutions are designed and delivered in alignment with our clients modern architecture standards, platform capabilities, and data strategy. This is a hands-on, embedded role within a product delivery pod.

Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role:

Translate Product Vision into Technical Execution

Partner with the Business Product Owner, designers, and workstream leads to refine the product strategy into an executable technical roadmap.

Decompose features into clear technical user stories and enablers aligned to agile sprint planning.

Drive early engagement with platform, security, and data architects to define technical direction and future-proof designs.

Own and Prioritize the Technical Backlog

Maintain a robust technical backlog including APIs, system integrations, canonical data model extensions, and non-functional enhancements.

Drive balance between new feature delivery, technical debt management, and system reliability improvements.

Collaborate with engineering to define clear, testable acceptance criteria that drive high-quality, secure, and scalable outcomes.

Enable Data Stewardship and Integration Integrity

Ensure technical stories and designs account for end-to-end data handling-from system integration and validation through persistence in governed data stores to downstream application use-reinforcing data integrity, lineage, and alignment with enterprise data standards.

Partner with platform teams and data engineers to align with shared schemas, governed pipelines, and enterprise data lake practices.

Advocate for data product thinking-ensuring clarity, completeness, and traceability of data used across Studio Economics systems.

Manage Dependencies and Risks

Track upstream/downstream dependencies across systems, domains, and platforms (e.g., shared services, source systems, content planning, rights management).

Surface architectural or integration risks early and align mitigation strategies with relevant platform and domain leads.

Facilitate coordination across pods and platform teams for shared releases or data-sharing agreements.

Lead Technical Delivery and Decision-Making

Navigate trade-offs in scope, architecture, and performance to meet product goals while maintaining long-term system integrity.

Support developers in evaluating and implementing modern practices such as CI/CD, test automation, observability, and fault tolerance.

Maintain a record of architectural decisions and rationale to inform future development and reduce rework.

Foster Engineering Excellence and Continuous Improvement

Support technical discovery and spikes for new features or platform capabilities.

Champion automation, testability, and performance tuning to reduce delivery waste and operational overhead.

Cultivate a culture of technical curiosity, quality, and iterative learning within the pod.

Must Have Skills / Requirements:

1)8+ years of experience in software engineering, data architecture, or enterprise systems integration

a.Experience communicating business requirements to technical teams

2)3+ years of experience in a technical product owner, technical lead, or delivery leadership role in an agile environment

a.Understanding of Agile principles, Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement (grooming).

3)Working knowledge of Software Architecture

a.3+ years of experience; Understanding APIs, Cloud Platforms, AWS, etc.

Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements

1)Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner CSPO, Professional Scrum Product Owner PSPO I or II, AWS Certified Cloud Practioner or Solutions Architect Associate) desirable but not a substitute for hands-on experience

2)Experience with Media or Entertainment.

3)Basic understanding of Quality Assurance and Testing Tools.

Soft Skills:

1)Connect the Dots Proactively

You build bridges between the product vision and technical delivery-aligning business value with reusable, maintainable system design.

2)Challenge Constructively

You reframe problems to reveal better solutions, question legacy constraints, and lead the team toward future-ready approaches.

3)Lead through Influence

You earn trust through partnership, not authority. You empower engineers while holding space for experimentation and innovation.

4)Think in Systems

You think beyond delivery and understand that data, services, and users don't exist in silos. You optimize for cross-domain interoperability, long-term scalability, and platform alignment.

5)Drive Clarity in Ambiguity

When complexity increases, you simplify. When ambiguity slows the team, you anchor to outcomes and move forward decisively.

What you'll bring

6)Technical Fluency

You're comfortable reading API specs, discussing data contracts, and assessing system architecture. You can work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers.

7)Enterprise Architecture Awareness

You understand platform ecosystems and design with enterprise architecture principles in mind-leveraging shared services, standardized interfaces, and scalable integration frameworks. You advocate for modular, composable solutions that align with layered application architectures and can evolve across use cases, domains, and delivery teams.

8)Data & Integration Acumen

You've worked on integrating disparate systems, aligning data and semantic models, and stewarding data that powers both operational workflows and analytics.

9)Product Thinking

You advocate for user impact and business value, and you understand that sustainable delivery requires a focus on both feature velocity and platform health. You equally care about why and how something is being built.

10)Clear, Confident Communication

You make complex decisions understandable to business stakeholders while maintaining technical integrity and developer alignment. You can translate architectural choices and delivery trade-offs into outcomes leadership understands

11)Bias for Action

You anticipate blockers, take initiative, and support the pod's delivery momentum without sacrificing long-term viability.

Technology Requirements:

1)Proven ability to lead the delivery of enterprise-scale platforms or applications, including defining and managing technical backlogs across multiple integrated systems

2)Strong fluency in modern architectures (e.g. API-first, event-driven, serverless, microservices) and experience working with data pipelines, lake houses, governed schemas, and platform interfaces

Education / Certifications:

1)Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline required

Interview Process / Next Steps:

1)1st round with HM and Sr. Product Owner

2)2nd round with Technical VP and separate Product Owner
