Job Title: Java Backend Engineer Payments
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite)

W2 Role (#visaindependent candidates are preferred) - C2C (or) Third-party candidates are not accepted.


We are seeking a strong Java Backend Engineer with solid experience in Payments to support high-availability, large-scale financial platforms. The role involves building secure, resilient backend services, integrating with enterprise payment systems, and ensuring regulatory and compliance standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Work on payment processing workflows ACH, wire transfers, RTP, card transactions, settlements, and reconciliations.
  • Integrate with internal and external payment gateways, APIs, and banking platforms.
  • Build scalable systems with strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality releases.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve system stability.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory and security standards.

Required Skills:

  • 6 12 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, Kafka, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Proven experience in Payments domain ACH, wires, RTP, SWIFT, ISO20022, settlements, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding, authentication/authorization, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, regulated, enterprise environments.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
  • Familiarity with Event-Driven architecture.
  • Exposure to large banking or financial environments.
