Cloud Network Engineer II

The Azure Networking Team is growing and we're looking for a creative and dedicated Cloud Network Engineer II who can combine networking experience with software development fundamentals to help build the world's premier private backbone network and Software-defined networking (SDN) platform. We're passionate about automating every facet of the network to converge on a self-growing, self-healing network. We want engineers that are equally passionate and can look at the problems with a customer's perspective to create user experiences that truly enable and empower Technicians, Engineers and Planners. Responsibilities:

• Focus on ExpressRoute and Global Backbone Networks, collaborating closely with Azure Networking partner teams.
• Design and develop automation and large-scale services to drive network autonomy.
• Own components end-to-end-from design through deployment and operations.
• Contribute to a high-visibility area with significant and growing investment in Microsoft Azure.
• Leverage this role for technical impact and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology
  • OR related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ years software development experience, utilizing front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern framework such as React), preferably in a networking environment.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology
  • OR related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Interest and ability to research new and emerging technologies to better solve networking problems via automation as well as k nowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  
  C#, Golang,Python and Linux/Unix/Windows systems programming.
• Basic understanding of routing protocols such as: Intermediate System to Intermediate System (ISIS), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technologies.
• Thorough understanding of Docker technologies.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
