Responsibilities
The HACCP Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all food safety and quality systems, particularly those related to the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan, are properly implemented, maintained, and updated in compliance with company, federal, and international food safety standards. This role plays a critical part in the company's food safety and regulatory compliance programs and serves as a leader in fostering a culture of continuous improvement in food safety practices.Conducts regular reviews and updates of HACCP plans to ensure compliance with regulatory changes, operational changes, and audit requirements.Lead the HACCP team and coordinate cross-functional meetings to review/update factory HACCP plans while applying the latest internal and external best-practices for critical control points (CCPs) operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs) and prerequisite programs (PRPs).Monitor CCPs and other food safety parameters on the production floor; provide guidance and corrective action plans when deviations occur.Prepare for and actively participate in internal, third-party, customer, and regulatory audits as the factory HACCP subject matter expert.Maintain thorough documentation for HACCP activities, including records of CCP monitoring, verification, and validation.Train and educate employees at all levels on food safety practices, HACCP principles, and proper record-keeping procedures.Collaborate with production, quality, and sanitation teams to troubleshoot HACCP issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of food safety-related monitoring equipment.Report any food safety issues or deviations to upper management promptly and assist in root cause analysis and resolution.Coordinate pre-trial meetings between R&D and the factory to ensure appropriate documentation is completed (e.g., trial plans, Partial HACCP, etc.)Stay current with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, CFIA, FSMA) and industry best practices.
Bachelor's DegreeMinimum 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment with experience managing factory HACCP plans.Must speak both French and English.Experience in Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, or other technical environmentStrong leadership, technical, communication and organizational skills required along with attention to detail. Certified in HACCP as a preventative controls qualified individual (PCQI). Training accredited by a recognized authority.Strong understanding of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, CFIA, SQF/BRC, GFSI, FSMA, etc.).Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and food safety management software.Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.Advanced knowledge of quality systems, procedures, & policies helpful.Ability to handle multiple assignments, develop work plans, & prioritize. Knowledge of statistical processes. Ability to drive accountability without direct reporting lines.
Physical RequirementsFrequent - activity or conditions sustained 1/3 to 2/3 of working hours; upright stance, keyboard or text input; Sedentary - occasionally exerting 0-10 lbs. of force, limited movement from workstation for brief periods of time.
Work ScheduleMonday to Friday, M-F, 8:00am-5:00pmThis position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment Additionally, this role might require weekends, and all required overtime as needed.
