Description

We are looking for a skilled Database Developer to join our team in Reading, Pennsylvania. This is a long-term contract position offering an exciting opportunity to work on complex database systems and support high-performing applications. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in database administration, query performance tuning, and production support.

Responsibilities:
Diagnose and resolve production issues by collaborating with various teams to analyze and address problems.
Review database queries to ensure optimal performance and adherence to best practices.
Identify and troubleshoot inefficient production processes using tools like plan cache analysis.
Execute data fixes in production environments and ensure accuracy and reliability.
Implement changes in both non-production and production environments as required.
Perform overnight database deployments, typically twice a week, as part of scheduled tasks.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing database support once every four weeks.
Utilize monitoring tools to maintain and enhance database performance.
Contribute to process improvements to streamline database management tasks.

Requirements

A minimum of 8 years of experience working with IBM i servers as a database administrator or engineer.
Proficiency with IBM Db2 database administration and query performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with IBM i tools such as Run SQL Scripts, Schemas, and Visual Explain.
Familiarity with performance tools like iDoctor and Performance Navigator.
Knowledge of change management software such as Implementer or Midrange Dynamics (MDR).
Expertise in writing complex SQL queries involving joins, sub-selects, and with statements.
Proven ability to support high-volume, high-velocity application and data environments.
Understanding of DevOps methodologies, Agile/Scrum practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
