Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Infrastructure Engineer to support our IT infrastructure and assist in managing FedRAMP Moderate ATO compliance. This position is well-suited for professionals with a foundation in cloud operations, security administration, and automation who are eager to further develop these skills in a government-regulated environment. You will be involved in maintaining high availability, security, and stability across diverse environments while working under the guidance of senior engineers and security personnel.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists in deploying and managing Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, and Amazon VPC resources to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
- Collaborates with senior engineers to implement infrastructure changes on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows platforms.
- Contributes to maintaining an up-to-date inventory of system architectures and network diagrams.
- Works closely with compliance teams to align systems and processes with FedRAMP Moderate requirements, including security documentation and basic risk assessments.
- Helps prepare materials for audits and vulnerability assessments using tools like Nessus and Burp.
- Monitors and follows up on remediation tasks to ensure continuous adherence to compliance standards.
- Contributes to maintaining cloud-based services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Systems Manager, and Amazon SQS.
- Under the direction of senior staff, helps automate infrastructure deployments using Terraform, Jenkins, Git, and Packer.
- Supports Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives by creating, reviewing, and updating scripts to improve reliability and repeatability.
- Uses tools like Splunk, Glowroot, and Amazon CloudWatch to detect system anomalies and performance issues.
- Provides Level 2 support for common incidents and escalates complex problems to senior engineers.
- Assists in configuring and maintaining security solutions such as Deep Security and HAProxy.
- Collaborates with development, operations, and security teams to align on best practices for system reliability and security (including openVPN, Git, SSH/OpenSSH).
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements
- Maintains clear, concise documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and changes.
- Engages in knowledge-sharing activities and team discussions to learn from senior engineers and participate in continuous process improvement.
- Stays up to date on knowledge, tools, news, and best practices.
- Embraces an on-site, remote, or hybrid work model, in alignment with customer requirements.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of Three (3+) years of experience working in an IT infrastructure engineering or related role.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain/maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
- Basic experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows server environments, and virtualization concepts.
- Exposure to automation and DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, and Git.
- Foundational understanding of security best practices (e.g., how to run basic scans or follow remediation procedures) using tools like Nessus and Splunk.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow established processes and guidelines.
- Attention to detail when documenting configurations and operational steps.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues.
- Prior work experience in a Federal contractor or regulated environment preferred.
- Familiarity with FedRAMP or other government compliance frameworks preferred.
- Knowledge of container platforms (e.g., Rancher, Docker) or additional AWS services (e.g., Amazon DynamoDB, AWS KMS, GuardDuty) preferred.
