We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Network Software Engineer to join the team.

The Spacecraft Network Software Engineer will:
  • Decompose network and software requirements into functional and test requirements
  • Develop software to build and products & tools interfaces for performing engineering verification activities
  • Analyze performance of software interfaces and conduct integration testing
  • Develop C / Python software to provide the required functionality
  • Perform software testing and verification
  • Develop software documentation
  • Document Network software interfaces and develop an Interface Control Document
  • Serve as Network and Software Integration Subject Matter Expert.
  • Develop software and Network interface verification tests
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requisition Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Strong C programming skills and experience within the last 4 years
  • Proficiency with C coding in a Linux environment
  • Strong Python & Linux Shell / skills and experience within the last 2 years
  • Familiar with Integrated Development Environments (IDE) Tools
  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools and Network Troubleshoot tools / Wireshark
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • System and software configuration management
  • Good oral and written communication with customers and team members
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple actions, and both short-term and long-term projects
  • Customer service oriented
  • Must be willing to work onsite at JSC ( Johnson Space Center )

Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience with embedded processors
  • Experience with VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS)
  • Experian with Network architecture experience
  • Experience with Core Flight System (cFS) applications or similar vehical software frameworks
  • Experience with NASA NPR 7150.2 or DO-178C
  • Experience with NASA safety standards and requirements (e.g., NASA-STD-8739.8) for safety-critical software development
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop and test safety-critical software
  • Experience with software testing and verification
  • Experience developing software across the full development life cycle
  • Experience with the following web-based collaboration tools:
  • GitLab
  • JIRA
  • Confluence
  • Quick learner and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethics
  • Highly developed coordination and organization skills

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
