Job Summary
Under the guidance of a designated supervisor, the IT Engineer I is responsible for monitoring hardware upgrades and replacements, supporting users with hardware and software issues, and deploying software on a large scale. The role involves providing systems administrator support for computer system integration, including assisting with installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining system hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Support:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues with desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, peripherals (e.g., keyboards, mice), and other devices.
- Install, configure, and upgrade hardware components such as RAM, hard drives, graphics cards, and network adapters.
- Perform hardware repairs and replacements and manage warranty services as needed.
Software Support:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop operating systems and software applications (e.g., Active Directory, SCCM, Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, TCP/IP, MDT, and business applications).
- Install, configure, and update software applications and patches to maintain compatibility, security, and performance.
- Assist users with software installation, activation, licensing, and compatibility issues.
Remote Support:
- Offer remote troubleshooting assistance for desktop-related issues to users in distributed or remote locations.
Work Environment:
- It is an in-person work environment, with occasional telework available upon request.
- May be required to be on-call for emergency/crisis management (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics), and work 24/7 during such events.
- Lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Dynamic environment requiring adaptability to changing priorities and goals.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in computer science or a related field, plus two (2) years of relevant technical experience, preferably in a government setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Special Requirements:
- Must pass a criminal background check; additional checks (e.g., fingerprinting, credit, DMV) may be required based on the assignment.
- Preferred certifications include Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation (ITIL), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, OneDrive, Teams, and ServiceNow software.
